We are currently investigating an issue where Insurgency Sandstorm servers hosted on Windows Server 2019 fail to start and show a StartError in the game panel.
🛠️ What’s Causing This?
The issue is caused by the latest version of the game server software requiring Windows system functions that are not available in Windows Server 2019. Although this presents to users as a generic "StartError", the root cause is a missing function in the operating system that the server needs to run. These functions are only present in Windows Server 2022 and newer systems.
🔄 What Are Your Options?
1. 🕒 Wait for a Game Update We are monitoring future updates from the developers. A game patch may restore compatibility with Windows Server 2019. We’ll post an update here if that happens. 2. 📩 Request Migration to Windows Server 2022 To resolve the issue immediately, you may open a support ticket to request migration to a server running Windows Server 2022. Note: This will result in a change to your server’s IP address.
Thank you for your understanding. Please reach out to our support team if you need assistance or would like to initiate a migration.
